Highway History:
OK 27 once went from Wetumka all the way to Shamrock. From Okemah, where present-day OK 27 ends, the highway went west on U.S. 62 to Castle, then it followed present-day OK 48 to Bristow, then it went on present-day OK 16 between Bristow and Shamrock.

Until just a few years ago, OK 27 ended at U.S. 75 in Wetumka. Instead of making the necessary curves into Wetumka, the highway now continues straight down and ends at OK 9 west of Wetumka.

Highway Review:
OK 27 is a 16-mile long highway that connects OK 9 west of Wetumka to the U.S. 62/OK 56 split in north Okemah. The only highway junction on the route between the termini is at Interstate 40/U.S. 62.
